Rachel J Bristol I advocate for recognizing the value of carers by investing in childcare, early education, and social care, while also promoting dignity, respect, and flexibility in employment to accommodate their responsibilities. Specifically addressing the challenges faced by millions of unpaid carers in the UK, I urge a reconsideration of the Carer's Allowance restrictions, particularly those related to earnings, which currently push caregivers to the brink of poverty with inflexible thresholds. The significant contributions of unpaid caregivers to the economy should be acknowledged by adjusting these thresholds, ensuring they receive adequate support without being penalized for seeking additional income. By doing so, we can better support caregivers and ease the financial burden they face while fulfilling their crucial role in saving state resources.

Samantha R Bristol As a former Young Carer and Adult carer, sharing my home and family life for 18.5 years with my brother who needed so much care and support please support women, who are the majority of care givers and leave their careers to care at huge unrecoverable costs.
Anna K Bristol Caring should be valued on a par with paid work and the dignity of all carers respected and upheld. Flexible policies on caring responsibilities should exist in all workplaces.

Susy G Bristol Can you imagine a world where people had no time at all to take care of their children, sick, frail and disabled loved ones? Can you imagine a world without nurses, health assistants, care workers, cleaners? Lets invest in the care economy to make sure that does not happen! Lets reward those who care for others, in their jobs and at home.

Elena W Bristol After years of underfunding in the care sector more and more people with care needs are in situations where their needs are not being fully met. This is far more likely to get worse before it gets better and adds increasing stress for those working to ensure that people's care needs are being met.

Belinda F Bristol Care is the glue that holds society together. A society without care is careless. Caring is often taken for granted that it is womens work, that they do naturally. we need a society that encourages all to care, and to take into account how much effort energy and time this takes

Helen R Spilsby The government needs to stop undervaluing the care support in this country we are there in all aspects child care support and support fot all mental health care needs and I have named just a few and that's no forgetting home care and there's children losing the child hood looking after family members . They need help and support themselves so please get some done Thank-you
Christine S Bristol I have worked in the health and social care sector and I know how important it is to value and uphold the dignity of all the individuals who need care. It is equally important to that cares get the full support they need in order for them to carry out their duties. This also includes the many unpaid cares out in society who take on the huge task of caring for an elderly parent or child. They deserve so much reignition..

Joyanne S Bristol I was an unsupported full-time carer from age of 9years up until 44yrs old. I went to school, I held down a full time and then part time job. Finally in my 30s after 16years of trying get help I was given carers allowance. I now have mental health issues and in constant pain in my back neck and joints which I know was through lifting a 19stone person alone with no lifting training. I am now unemployed and alone, I am living off savings left to me by my parents after they died, they didn't want me to struggle as they had all our lives, but because I have savings do not qualify for any financial assistance or help! 35 years I cared saving social security thousands and now I need help myself I can't get it.

Simon B Reading The caring economy, comprised of care workers and carers, keep the heart if out society going Doing the literal heavy lifting as well the emotional lifting is no easy task, it's underpaid ,under appreciated and yet means the difference between dignity and humanity for countless people across generations, class and geography. We need to recognise this huge contribution to our society and take steps to rectify the disservice so many carers are shown.

Camilla M Bristol Caring is undervalued and deserves more respect. Let's start a revolution in understanding how valuable these essential roles are to allowing people to flourish and feel supported in a way that empowers everyone and is economically rewarded. It's not women's work. It's everyone's business! We all need care at different points in our life from bir5h to death and everything in between. Currently the burden often falls on women but this needs to change and be fully recognised as work and renumerated appropriately.
